Almost everyone is plagued by the issue of acne at some point in their lives, some worse than others. There are many things which can lead to acne breakouts however some of these issues are more difficult to control than others. For example, in some cases acne is caused by hormonal imbalances. Many times a person may not even be aware there is a problem which makes it hard to prevent acne which is caused by this issue.
Another difficult to control issue which can sometimes lead to the occurrence of acne is family history. If there is a history of acne related problems then the chances are higher that you too will have a problem. Unfortunately we cannot control our genes which makes this problem almost impossible to prevent. It is however usually respondent to various treatments.
There are many other things that may lead to the breakout of acne however most of these are preventable. That is not saying it is easy to prevent these breakouts, simply that it can be done. Some of the common preventable issues which can be responsible for acne breakouts include the following:
Poor diet
Lack of exercise
High stress levels
Improper skin care
Climate
Medications
Although some of these problems can be prevented some of them are more difficult than others to change. Take a person’s diet for example. While a person may know that what they eat has a significant impact on the health of their skin they may have a difficult time changing how and what they eat.
Stress and exercise are two factors that go hand in hand. This is because the lack of adequate exercise alone can lead to many problems in addition to acne. Exercise is a natural stress reliever so increasing the amount of exercise you get decreasing the levels of stress thus helping to prevent acne breakouts.
Improper skin care is one problem which often leads to the occurrence of acne. This one however is generally pretty simple to fix. Keeping your face as clean as possible using a mild soap or facial cleanser is usually all that is needed to prevent further problems with acne. The reason this is such an issue is because when you don’t clean your face regularly dirt and bacteria gets into the pores of your skin causing the pores to become clogged. This results in the formation of pimples and blackheads.
Climate and medications are factors which are a little trickier especially if the medication is something that a person has to have for a specific medical condition or if the person works outdoors. One suggestion would be to discuss the medication with your health care provider to see if there is some other medication that can be substituted for the one causing the problem. Limiting time outside in the weather especially in extremely cold temperatures can be extremely helpful as well however if you work outside this may be a little difficult to achieve.
